Why I love my wife...
While one of those stupid diamond jewlery commercials was playing on the radio while we were traveling about, [info]seasleepy remarked that instead of wearing a large diamond, she would rather use it to power a laser.

That's my wife. (8-)

More information as to what I've been up to, when I have more information to share...

Thank you again!
Thanks to everybody who commented on the wedding post, and for your blessings and congratulations. So far, it's been almost two weeks, and Sarah hasn't kicked me out of the apartment yet. (8-)

Wedding Pictures
Yeah. So. I got married to [info]seasleepy. (8-).

I know it took a while, but here's the webpage for people who want to see some pictures and movies of the wedding.

Sarah and Jerry Wedding Photos and Movies

There are plenty more photos, but, they involve crowd shots or family shots that I'm somewhat hesitant to post, with concerns about privacy and all that. If people want to see the full album, let me know and we'll figure something out on this end...

A Story of a beautiful day... )

Sarah beat me to the punch!
I mentioned in the past that the wedding was going to happen sometime soon, but, then things got really busy and I never really talked about the actual wedding going off.

So, I'll let my wife summarize things in her post. (8-)

And as [info]seasleepy said, yes, there will be posting pictures and details and stories and things when things have calmed down a bit. (We still need to clean up post wedding, and I have to take care of a bunch of work-related stuff too...)

Thanks for comments
Thanks for the well-wishes folks. Yes, it's very scary (especially for somebody who hasn't shared an apartment with anybody since the year after University), but it's also very exciting.

I suppose it also highlights that, if the people involved are truly committed, LDRs do work. They're pretty damned painful at times (magnified by distance, add another multiplier if you're actually separated by an international border), the obstacles are great, the challenges can be overwhelming -- but, you can make it work.

And, having lived apart, I think it helps you treasure even more living together.

The Future
There is nothing quite like that moment when, after contemplating possible futures, choices and commitments are made, and, and all of a sudden, you're now dealing with a future. That moment of commitment, that moment of time when you fully realize the reality you're in, the full emotional impact hits you and you realize: "Holy sh*t, this is actually going to happen."

And, there's no going back now.

[info]seasleepy and I have been trying to figure out various possible ways of dealing with immigration, either me to the States, or her into Canada. Over time, we were pretty sure she was going to come up here, and we had begun planning accordingly (one of the reasons why I moved, for example), but, we always tried to keep her options open until the last possible moment.

Today, those options faded away. She's now committed to coming up here for at least four months. And, on the basis of those four months, we're going to see if we have achieved that magic mix of loving each other, and being able to live with each other as well. (Something that, sadly, don't always go hand in hand.) But, if it does work out -- we'll probably be married before the end of this year, so we can begin the immigration paperwork into Canada.

Now, I'm going to just run around the room in circles for a little while, while my mind tries to come to grips as to what the next six months of 2007 are going to mean for my life and hers. Whoa.
