Here come the wave of cheap imitators...
GTA IV Steals Record Sales - $1/2 Billion In 1st Week

Now, now we get the wave of cheap imitators who don't imitate the storyline or the ambiance of GTA IV, just the violence. (Disclaimer: I don't actually own the game - I'm not a big fan of the GTA experience. Reading the news is dark and nihilistic enough for me, I don't need to experience it my video games. Just that, with that much money in play, companies are going to churn out clones that miss the point, and, in the process, infuriate even further that segment of the population that believes video games are the root of all evil.)

Reminder of Mortality Strikes Again
... so it is with a heavy heart that I report Erick Wujcik, age 56, is dying of cancer.

Another element of my childhood, this time a game designer who worked with some of the first RPGs I ever played, now fading away.

Even now, during this time of joy and hope and birth, one must always be reminded that there is darkness with light, sadness with joy, yin with yang, death with life. Only in the context of the negative, do we human beings have a hope of truly appreciating the positive.

But I really wish some days that we were wired in some other way. *sigh*

Last one out, please turn off the lights...
FASA's been dead for years. FASA Studio really had only the name, and the licenses. This wasn't the old FASA Corp. This was just adding a period to the sentence.

But, for a game company that produced some of my favourite games, and my all-time favourite RPG, there is still some sadness at reading this.

FASA Studio Shuts Down

Thanks FASA, for helping me and my friends create some great memories. Frozen flying squirrels and Thor Javelins will always remember you. (8-)

The GZG-ECC X Trip Report
Here's what I did last weekend. I really shouldn't take the time to write this now, but, if I wait too long, it'll start to fade (most people who read this are familiar with my memory), and, I'm kind of fried on coding for the moment anyway...
